Medicinal Gardens

A medicinal herbs garden can be the basis of a herbal remedy to treat a variety of ills. The medicinal herbs are used in many ways mixed with other ingredients to make natural home remedies.

Pilikula Nisargadhama has an Herbal garden with priceless medicinal plants. Herbal Garden is spread across 10 acres of land. Herbs of different species have been planted classically with reference to Indian Literature, which makes it unique in South Kanara. There are different species of medicine plants which have been Organically Cultivated. One of the most important reason being that the garden is untouched insecticides and inorganic.

This garden spread over 10 acres has endangered rare medicinal plant species of Western Ghats, wild plants which creates natural habitat for butterflies, birds and tries to create a biodiversity space in this area.
Many botanists and research students regularly visit the garden. Nature lovers frequently visit this cradle of herbs to rejoice and rejuvenate themselves.

This herbal garden was first established under the National Horticulture Mission project 2007-08 and with the financial assistance Karnataka state government. Now it is further developed with the financial assistance from the New Mangaluru Port Trust.

Pilikula Oushadhi Vana is growing with a unique attention towards endangered, rare and threatened native plants of Western Ghat region. Pilikula Nisargadhama project is supporting in progressive activity of this herbal garden by providing proper guidance through intellectual of botanical stream.  Ultimately the motto of Pilikula Nisargadhama is to safeguard rapidly vanishing ancient method of treatment through herbs and also to protect Mother Nature with the theme of social health development and awareness through education.
